The Duke of Northumberland YFC Open Stock Judging CompetitionThursday 17th May 2007 Lancashire came out top in the Duke of Northumberland young farmers’ stockjudging competition with the first prize in the senior section of £500 and Duke of Northumberland Perpetual Trophy going to Trevor Dobson, and the first prize in the junior section of £200, sponsored by the British Charolais Cattle Society, and the Beef Expo Rose Bowl, to Thomas Harrison. Both winners also receive an all-expenses paid trip to this year’s Royal Smithfield Fair at Shepton Mallet, courtesy of the Royal Smithfield Club. The master judge was Michael Winchester, procurement officer with meat processors, Woodhead Bros, which is part of the Morrison supermarket group.

Conditions of Entry Individual members of any YFC club in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern
Ireland can enter on the day at the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers
Club’s stand number 94 at the event. Competitors have between 9.00 am and 12.30 pm on the day to enter and judge the three classes. Competitors in the above competitions will have to judge a class of four
cattle on the following stands – Stabilizer Cattle Company stand 42 – Breeding Heifers British Simmental Cattle Society stand 43 – Breeding Heifers Competitors will not have to give reasons, however in the event of a tie break for placing competitors. The decision will be made by guessing the total weight of the Breeding Heifers on the Stabilizer Cattle Company Stand. Presentation of prizes will take place in the show ring at 2.30 pm. Entry to this competition is free; however Visitors will have to pay to come into the event. £10 or £5 if an NBA member or student on production of membership card.
