EBLEX hosts farm shop butchery competition at Beef Expo

A farm shop butchery competition is again being hosted by EBLEX at this year’s Beef Expo following the success of the 2009 contest.

The National Farm Shop Beef Butchery Competition is open to owners, managers and butchers from farm shops selling English beef.

Entrants will get one hour to prepare and display at least eight cuts and products which demonstrate their cutting skills. They will be judged by a panel of industry experts to determine an overall national champion.

“More and more farm shops are introducing fresh meat counters and the competition is designed to encourage high standards of butchery and presentation,” said Michael Richardson, EBLEX’s Direct Selling Programme Manager.

Beef Expo 2011 Heading for Newark

Next year’s national beef event, Beef Expo 2011, will be held at Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire on Thursday, May 26.

The annual showcase event for the UK beef industry, organised by the National Beef Association, is growing in stature every year and now requires more exhibition space to accommodate an expanding range of livestock demonstrations, educational/advisory exhibits, seminars and trade stands. [more]
